Smokers in Texas may have to stay 25 feet away from any building if a new smoking ban goes into effect in the Lone Star State. The proposal, as introduced by State Rep. Myra Crownover, R-Denton as House Bill 5, would be a Class-C misdemeanor and a fine of up to $500.This is just one more reason for smokers to consider electronic cigarettes. Since an electronic cigarette contains no second-hand-smoke, the proposed ban should have no effect on users of e-cigs. According to an article in the North Texas Daily entitled Texas smoking ban bill proposed, many Texas merchants are going to feel the pinch. "Rick Reid, owner of The Garage on Fry Street, said he isn't worried about business being negatively affected as long as patrons of his bar can smoke on the patio. He said he's more worried about how to enforce the law. "It's just going to add another problem," Reid said." |
