The electronic cigarette is fast becoming known as the "healthy cigarette." With no second-hand smoke, no tar and no carbon monoxide (as well as none of the toxins) of tobacco cigarettes, the electronic cigarette is a much healthier alternative to cigarette smoking. And because the water vapor emitted by an electronic cigarette is smoke free, there is no reason why they can't be used anywhere that bans tobacco.The electronic cigarette, which looks a lot like a regular tobacco cigarette, consists of a battery, an atomizer and a cartridge containing nicotine, flavor, propylene glycol (an F.D.A. approved food additive) and water. When the user inhales, the battery engages the atomizer, which turns some of the liquid into a vapor that the user inhales like cigarette smoke. While it tastes a little different than a cigarette, the user does get the nicotine hit they desire, along the pleasant flavor (for instance, vanilla, coffee, chocolate and apple are some examples) contained within the cartridge.
